Connetix Tiles Upgrade: 212-Piece Rainbow Mega Pack Replaced by the New 202-Piece Bright Mega Pack
A detailed breakdown of the shift from the legacy 212-piece rainbow set to the redesigned 202-piece Bright Mega Pack, covering piece count changes, open rectangles, mini squares, and packaging updates.
For years, the flagship Connetix 212 Piece Rainbow Mega Pack was the definitive choice for ambitious builders, large families, and early learning centers seeking maximum construction potential. As part of a wide collection refresh, Connetix has officially retired this legacy set and rebranded to the new Bright range, introducing the redesigned Connetix Bright Mega Pack 202pcs.
This product refresh arrives in a redesigned box with updated dimensions and standardized packaging sizing across the brand's catalog. The piece count has adjusted from 212 down to 202 pieces, accompanied by a strategic rebalancing of geometric components. The set no longer contains large hexagons and features a reduced number of each triangle type. In their place, Connetix has introduced mini squares and 8 × open rectangles, allowing children to experiment with balance, symmetry, engineering, and problem-solving while developing confidence through open-ended play. The addition of new pink and teal tiles also brings the collection up to 8 distinct colors.
Throughout these improvements, the engineering foundations of Connetix Tiles remain consistent: non-toxic, BPA- and phthalate-free ABS plastic, high-frequency ultrasonic welding, metal corner safety eyelets, rare-earth neodymium magnets, and the brand's signature bevelled face. Frequently Asked Questions (Click to Expand)
Why did Connetix replace the 212-piece Mega Pack with the 202-piece set?
Connetix rebranded its colorful collection into the Bright range to standardize packaging proportions across its catalog while rebalancing the piece assortment—introducing open rectangles and mini squares to support open-ended architectural engineering.
What are the 8 open rectangles used for in the 202-piece set?
The 8 × open rectangles allow children to experiment with balance, symmetry, engineering, and problem-solving while developing confidence through open-ended play, serving as open window bays, bridge arches, and lightweight roof girders.
Are large hexagons included in the new Connetix Bright Mega Pack 202pcs?
No. The updated 202-piece Bright Mega Pack no longer contains large hexagons, shifting focus toward standard squares, mini squares, base plates, and open rectangles.
How many colors are featured in the Connetix Bright Mega Pack?
The Bright Mega Pack includes 8 distinct colors, expanding the classic rainbow tones with the inclusion of new pink and teal tiles.
What is the role of the new mini squares in the 202-piece set?
Mini squares provide smaller modular dimensions that enable builders to craft detailed architectural features, step-down staircases, and micro-framing without adding excess weight to tall vertical builds.
Why were the triangle counts reduced in the 202-piece Mega Pack?
Connetix reduced the number of each triangle type to rebalance the kit toward core structural square and rectangular foundations, ensuring builders have sufficient load-bearing tiles for large-scale multi-story structures.
Are pieces from the older 212-piece pack compatible with the 202-piece pack?
Yes. Both sets share identical standard dimensions (7.5 cm × 7.5 cm for standard squares), edge magnet alignments, and material thicknesses, ensuring complete backwards and forwards compatibility.
What safety certifications apply to the 202-piece Bright Mega Pack in Australia?
The set complies with mandatory Australian and New Zealand safety standard AS/NZS ISO 8124, governing drop impact resistance, non-toxic materials, and the secure encapsulation of neodymium magnets.

Connetix tiles are manufactured from non-toxic, food-grade ABS/MABS plastic formulated without BPA, phthalates, or lead, as verified on the official Connetix website.
