Connetix Tiles New Bright & Pastel Range: Comparing Featured Upgraded Sets
An architectural comparison of the newly upgraded Connetix range, exploring the two signature colour variations—the New Bright & Pastel collections—with direct links to our dedicated product upgrade guides, standardized box dimensions, and rebalanced piece distributions.
Connetix has officially streamlined its construction collection into standardized packaging dimensions, refined component distributions, and organized the catalog around two primary colour variations: the new Bright collection and the Pastel collection. Whether families prefer high-energy rainbow contrast or muted, nature-inspired tones, the brand offers dedicated options tailored to different visual preferences and playroom aesthetics.
As part of this ongoing range modernization, an initial group of core building sets has transitioned to the updated specifications: the Connetix Tiles Bright Creative Pack 104pcs (read our 104pc Bright Creative Pack Upgrade Guide), the mechanical Connetix Tiles Ball Run Bright Pack 114pcs (read our 114pc Ball Run Upgrade Guide), the large-scale Connetix Tiles Bright Mega Pack 202pcs (read our 202pc Mega Pack Upgrade Guide), and the calming Connetix Tiles Pastel Creative Pack 104pcs (read our 104pc Pastel Creative Pack Upgrade Guide). Additional pack updates and upcoming configurations across the brand will continue to be documented as they release.
While the Bright range has expanded into 8 high-clarity primary tones with the addition of pink and teal, the Pastel range features 8 soft, earthy hues designed to complement Montessori play spaces and wooden toys. Across both colour palettes, Connetix Tiles maintains its trademark safety engineering: certified food-grade ABS plastic, ultrasonic perimeter seams, corner eyelet safety rivets, and signature scratch-resistant bevelled edges.

Frequently Asked Questions (Click to Expand)
What is the primary difference between the Connetix Bright and Pastel colour variations?
The Bright variation features 8 saturated, high-contrast rainbow tones (including newly introduced pink and teal), while the Pastel variation features 8 soft, nature-inspired earthy hues (rose, berry, peach, mint, emerald, lemon, violet, and sapphire) designed for quiet, focused play spaces.
Are the tiles in the Bright range compatible with the Pastel collection?
Yes. All Connetix collections—Bright, Pastel, Clear, and Specialty lines—share identical 7.5 cm × 7.5 cm base square dimensions, matching magnet polarity spacing, and uniform plastic thickness for complete cross-compatibility.
What are the 8 open rectangles in the Bright Mega Pack 202pcs used for?
The 8 open rectangles allow children to experiment with balance, symmetry, engineering, and problem-solving while developing confidence through open-ended play, serving as open window bays, bridge arches, and lightweight roof girders.
How do the 12 connector rings in the 114pc Ball Run Bright Pack function?
Connector rings mechanically snap fluted tube pieces directly together end-to-end, enabling builders to construct continuous runs without requiring an intermediate square magnetic connector tile.
How does the piece distribution differ between the retired 102pc set and the 104pc Bright Creative Pack?
The 104pc set adds 8 × 2-square solid rectangles and expands the color spectrum to 8 hues, while removing the large base squares, window pieces, fences, and small rectangles found in the retired 102pc box.
What design updates were made to the single bowl pieces in the 114pc Ball Run?
The 2 single bowls feature taller sidewalls compared to the older version, preventing wooden balls from spilling or bouncing out during high-speed descents.
What safety certifications apply to Connetix Tiles sold in Australia?
Connetix Tiles comply with the mandatory Australian and New Zealand safety standard AS/NZS ISO 8124, requiring mechanical drop impact testing, non-toxic finishes, and the secure encapsulation of neodymium magnets.
What plastic material is used to manufacture Connetix magnetic tiles?
Connetix sets are manufactured using non-toxic, food-grade ABS/MABS plastic formulated without BPA, lead, or phthalates, as verified on the official Connetix website.
Why do Connetix tiles feature a recessed bevelled face?
The face of each tile is recessed from the outer perimeter frame toward the center. When tiles slide across tables or floors, surface friction contacts only the outer edge, protecting the central clear surface from scratch clouding while enhancing light refraction.
What is the certified age rating for Connetix sets in Australia?
Standard Connetix sets are certified and recommended for children aged 3 years and older due to structural coordination requirements and small parts (wooden balls) in ball run packs.
